Finance stories built for the feed, not the front page

The Sourcera pilot at HYPER: on-brand carousel templates, a feed-first story structure and a publishing rhythm for each channel.

Magazine issues and print proofs spread across a table in warm light

Context

Media / finance journalism

HYPER, Germany's media platform for young professionals, with 500,000+ followers and 10M+ monthly impressions

Sourcera pilot, 2025. Engagement benchmarked against Rival IQ industry data.

Role

Me — Carousel and quote-card templates, feed-first story structure, pilot workflow with the newsroom

Team — HYPER's editorial team, with Sourcera's founders and engineers

The constraint

HYPER's readers are young and investment-savvy: their average age is 25, and 94% of them invest. They follow finance on Instagram, WhatsApp and newsletters, where a post's half-life is under 90 minutes, so a story rebuilt by hand for every channel was often stale before it went out. HYPER also keeps its journalism strictly separate from its commercial work, so anything automated had to meet the newsroom's own standards.

What we tried

01

Tried — Turn each article into a carousel slide by slide, following the article's own structure.

Learned — Articles build up to the news, and feeds reward the opposite. Carousels that opened with context lost people before they reached the point.

Did — Rebuilt the carousel around the feed: the news and the number on the first slide, what it means for the reader's money next, and the background last for anyone still swiping.

02

Tried — Launch with Sourcera's default visual frames, to get the pilot live quickly.

Learned — HYPER's followers know the brand on sight. Generic frames looked like any other finance account, and got scrolled past like one.

Did — Designed HYPER-specific carousel and quote-card frames in the brand's serif type, burgundy accent and voice, so every post read as HYPER before anyone saw the handle.

03

Tried — Publish every channel's version the moment the article went live.

Learned — Each channel peaks at a different time, and posting everything at once made the same story compete with itself across feeds.

Did — Gave each channel its own slot: WhatsApp and X first while the news was fresh, then the carousel and the newsletter once the story had context.

Outcome

3.17%

In the 2025 pilot, HYPER's Instagram posts built with Sourcera reached 3.17% engagement, nine times the industry average in Rival IQ's benchmarks. HYPER now runs Sourcera in production.
